The name "The Five Stars" relates to a true Samoan image, and the five stars on the national flag of Samoa. Established in 1974 and managed by their father Afoa, Alapati Tuuga Stevenson, the band has experienced 32 years of musical achievements. The Five Stars made up of four brothers: Alofa, Solomona, Uili and Sitivi have been supported by many friends. In particular the musical skills and dedication of Sam Poulava, Sam Faatoe, Willie Misa, Ross Uele, Pokaki, Pava Saifoloi, Ena and Faiumu Pio.
Their distinctive sound, many recordings and public performances has made them popular throughout New Zealand, Samoa, The United States, Hawaii, Solomon Islands, Papua New Guinea and other parts of the Pacific. Most significant is the unique voice of Alofa Tuuga Stevenson, his leadership and his endless talent in song writing. He has made a valuable contribution to Pacific music and he will be sadly missed.
